Your mission
The Institute Josep Carreras (IJC) is a comprehensive cancer research center dedicated to conduct research and driving innovation in the epidemiological, preventive, clinical, translational, and basic aspects of cancer, with a special emphasis on leukaemia and other hematologic malignancies, with the final aim of finding a cure for these diseases.
 
The IJC is part of the network of Excellence Research Centers of Catalonia (CERCA) and has been accredited as a Severo Ochoa Center of Excellence by the Ministry of Science, Innovation, and Universities in 2024. Since 2018, the Institute has also been accredited by the Scientific Foundation of the Spanish Association Against Cancer (FCAECC) Additionally, IJC is one of the centers integrated into the IGTP's accreditation as Accredited Health Research Institute (IIS) by the Carlos III Health Institute (ISCIII).
 
The IJC's main headquarters is located within the Can Ruti Biomedical Campus, alongside other leading biomedical institutions, providing direct access to cutting-edge scientific and technological facilities, as well as complementary community services. In addition, the IJC has five locations integrated into reference hospitals: Hospital Germans Trias i Pujol, Hospital Clínic, Hospital Sant Pau, Hospital Trueta, and Hospital del Mar. This facilitates close collaboration between basic and clinical researchers, fostering translational research that integrates basic science with clinical practice in clinical settings.
 
We are seeking a Project Manager to join our Strategic Projects Office
The Strategic Projects Office develops projects deemed institutional and strategic for the Institute, including initiatives to boost impact in all areas beyond research and foster international alliances, as well as participates in excellence accreditations and the development of internal policies that adhere to international standards. These initiatives aim to enhance the Institute's strategic and international positioning in alignment with the objectives outlined in the Strategic Plan.
 
Main responsibilities
  • Contribute to initiatives to assess and maximize the impact of the Institute Josep Carreras research 's beyond academia by:
  1. Implementing the principles of Responsible Research and Innovation (RRI) and Open Science to promote inclusivity, sustainability, transparency, and societal engagement. 
  2. Aligning research assessment practices with international standards and developing periodic internal and external assessments of the Institute's impact. 
  3. Enhancing the impact sections of competitive proposals and contributing to their implementation, as well as the communication, dissemination, and exploitation plans.
  4. Providing training and support to researchers in assessing and increasing the impact of their research beyond academia.
  5. Developing proposals and projects considered strategic by the Institute due to their impact.
  • Other transversal tasks of the Strategic Projects Office when required.
Your profile
  • Bachelor’s degree or master’s degree in Sociology or related social science field. Life Sciences will also be considered. PhD degree will be an asset.
  • Three years minimum of work experience in research or research support. If the experience in biomedical research, it will be an asset.
  • Experience in grant writing and proposal development.
  • Experience with Citizen Science projects, patient engagement and/or science communication being particularly valuable.
  • Familiarity with impact assessment methodologies and metrics will be an asset.
  • Fluent in Catalan, Spanish, and English with excellent communication skills.
  • Good knowledge of Office 365; and advanced skills in Excel and Power BI will be an asset.
  • Ability to work within tight deadlines and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Strong organizational, planning, and analytical skills, with attention to detail.
  • Ability to work cooperatively and inclusively with others to achieve shared goals.
  • Willingness to self-improve and grow knowledge and skills.
  • Passion for our mission and to contribute to boosting the societal impact of cancer research.
